A 19 year old tail ender who turned the Aussie fortune.

I am spellbound by the 19 year old 6 footer whose debut is going to be marked as one of the best in the game. Ashton Agar has risen to glory in the first test match of the Ashes series.  But did the Aussie team management tell us Ashton Agar was a bowler?  They better change their claim, he was a big disappointment on the first day with the ball and classy with the bat on the second. His batting was definitely not that of a tail ender. I felt for a moment that I was watching a shorter format of the game.

I did want to see him out to give the England side some hope but this tall fellow definitely deserved a ton for the way he played. He is here to stay and already has few records to his name for the highest score by a number 11 batsman. His partnership with Phil Hughes for the tenth wicket is again the highest.

Fortunately for him, the third umpire turned down a stumping appeal by the England team when he was on 6. Since then it was a treat for the eye. Come on Agar; let us see some great bowling too. He is the latest addition to the small group of 6 foot spinners like Billy O’Reilly, Arshad Khan, Daniel Vettori and Anil Kumble.  I would want to see him play the T20 format as he seems to be a great prospect for an all rounder in the shorter version.

What does the England number 11 have in stock for the England fans? He uses a Slazenger cricket bat – v100. Let’s hope he gets a ton to go with the name of his bat. So go Jimmy go, put on your batting gloves and get the best of your cricket equipment to tell the world that you are no less than this new kid on the block.
